Remind the students that the process that they learn occur at a microscopic level. H: Hooking and holding the students’ interest in reference to the topic of cell division is an easy task. Remind students, that just as with previous units of study, that they will be evaluated on a daily basis using the already established techniques that are mentioned in the Formative Assessment section of this lesson plan. Explain that the only way to know how an organism has its specific characteristics is to understand how cells divide while stressing the importance of proper DNA replication and cell division. Then explain that there are even more detailed parts of the cell and that those parts jobs are extremely important to master because those jobs will contribute to changes in the organism as a whole unit. W: At the onset of the lesson, present a discussion about the cell cycle in order to activate prior knowledge about the structures and their specific functions of cells that the students are already aware of from previous chapters.
